Marine South Military Equipment Exhibition, Camp Lejeune NC, April 11 ~ 12
WASHINGTON, DC /PRNewswire/ ~ One of the eastern United States’ largest and most comprehensive Marine military equipment expositions of the year, Marine South 2012, will be presented at Camp Lejeune, NC, during April 11 – 12.
Marine South is produced for the men and women whose primary roles in U.S. national security are expeditionary warfare and the conduct of amphibious training and operations around the world. The 2012 edition of Marine South will feature displays of the latest in equipment and technology, and will provide extensive insight into combat technology now in development.
Camp Lejeune is home to America’s “Expeditionary Forces in Readiness,” which includes the II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2d Marine Division, 2d Marine Logistics Group and several other important combat, combat support and service support units. Held since 1993, Marine South is co-sponsored by and held at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune. Marines and other military and civilian personnel from Marine South commands at Camp Lejeune; Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point; and Marine Corps Air Station, New River are among attendees.
Over the years, personnel from those commands have been among the first to respond to international crises. Many of the men and women attending the expo this year will be deploying for combat operations and contingency operations in the near term. Also among attendees will be large numbers who have recently returned from action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Marine South 2012 will give end-users close-up, hands-on perspectives of what the leading defense companies of the United States and allied nations are producing and developing in support of 21st Century equipment modernization programs. The expo is sponsored by the Marine Corps League, a Marine Corps veterans’ association, and co-sponsored by Marine Corps Systems Command and Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune. Marine South is endorsed by the Marine Corps Aviation Association and the Marine Corps Association.
The exposition attracts several thousand military professionals from all of the Armed Forces. Industry representatives will receive direct feedback from men and women recently returned from operations involving location and engagement of enemy forces. Key decision-makers in the defense equipment and systems procurement chain are among those who attend Marine South to learn about the latest advances in equipment and what can be expected to be available to support and sustain combat operations in the near term. Much of that equipment will be specifically matched to the demands of the Marine Corps’ unique amphibious warfare capabilities.
Static displays, video and other presentations will highlight a broad spectrum of small arms, crew-served weapons, indirect fire weapons, fire support coordination equipment, ground and air navigation systems, unmanned ground and air vehicles, and many other types of equipment. All items displayed by defense manufacturers have been designed for improving the overall fighting capabilities of fast-moving, forward-located Marine expeditionary air-ground task forces now engaged, or poised for quick-strike or long-term combat operations. Every phase of ground and air combat will be represented, from pre-engagement planning tools and reconnaissance to close combat, long-range support, and sustained tactical operations, including force protection.
Attendees do not need to register in advance for Marine South 2012. Uniformed Marines may enter the exhibit areas without a registration badge. Other military personnel, civilians and industry representatives will need to register on site and obtain a complimentary attendee badge during the registration open hours. There is no admission fee to attend the event.
The exhibit areas will be open for a Commanders’ Preview from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11. The opening ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m. and the exhibit area will be open to all attendees on that day from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. On Thursday, April 12, the exhibit area will open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m. Further information on Marine South 2012 and Marine Military Expositions is available on http://marinemilitaryexpos.com and from Mr. Charlie Baisley at 703-812-2741 or charles.baisley@nielsen.com and Ms. Jaymie Amos-Nielsen at 980-328-8801, jaymie.nielsen@nielsen.com

General Dynamics Awarded $96 Million to Support Trident II Submarine Strategic Weapons Systems
FAIRFAX, VA /PRNewswire/ ~ The U.S. Navy recently awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems a $95.9 million contract for production and deployed-systems support of U.S. and U.K. Trident II submarine strategic weapons systems, including the SSBN fire-control system, the SSGN attack weapon-control system, the U.S. SSBN-replacement and the U.K. SSBN-successor common missile compartment. The contract has a maximum value of $225 million if all options are exercised. General Dynamics Advanced Informational Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).
“We have a 50 year partnership with the Navy supporting strategic weapons systems and this award is a validation of our team’s performance in supporting the modernization and enhancement of the Trident program,” said Lou Von Thaer, president of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. “Looking forward, the introduction of the common missile compartment will be instrumental for the next generation of SSBN platforms for the U.S. and U.K. navies. Deploying a common compartment across different platforms will decrease cost and introduce more flexibility for meeting today’s mission requirements and those of the next generation of sailors.”
The Trident submarine force is the backbone of the U.S. and U.K. navies’ nuclear deterrence strategies. To ensure this capability remains at peak readiness and safety, the U.S. Navy undertook the D5 Life Extension Program in 2002 to replace aging components of the Trident II missile.
Under this contract, General Dynamics will continue to oversee elements of the D5 modernization program, including lifecycle support of the fire-control and attack weapon-control systems. The company will provide engineering support, performance evaluation, logistics, fleet documentation, reliability maintenance and training. The contract also calls for engineering support of the U.S. and U.K. common missile compartment including concept development, prototyping and initial design efforts.
Work will continue to be performed in Pittsfield, Mass., where General Dynamics currently employs over 1,100 employees.

Your Resume ~ No One Really Reads Them So Why Are Resumes So Important?!
by Bill Golden CEO, USAJobZoo.com, IntelligenceCareers.com and USADefenseIndustryJobs.com
Resumes & Jobs / The Rare Find: Reinventing Recruiting – Businessweek http://ow.ly/70OF1 … BusinessWeek writes:
“A new era of talent hunting has begun. It’s happening not only at high-tech companies such as Facebook, but also at Army bases, ad agencies, investment banks, Hollywood studies, corporate boardrooms, college admissions offices, and even at nanny agencies. In all these fields, experts don’t just sort résumés. They pick people and build teams in a profoundly different way. Traditional measures of past achievement, such as test scores and academic degrees, are losing power, and companies are getting better at looking for those future superstars who deliver many times the value of someone who is merely good.”
BusinessWeek’s article is a good read … yet while it sounds all good and futuristic the methods discussed really apply to probably less than 1% of the 1% of people that find jobs.
For really, really unique jobs this has been true for awhile ~~ testing of individuals and creative interviews with current staff. (I once worked in a technology company where every potential hire was voted upon by current employees before they were hired, circa 1998). However, the 99.99% of the rest of the workforce world needs to stay focused on getting found ~~ and that still requires a resume.
Getting found requires a good resume and an understanding of how those resumes get found.
Best approach on the planet: network. Meet people or let folks know that you are searching for a new career challenge. Make your resume for them to pass along. This method probably accounts for 50-60% of all hires in the technical and professional world. Many companies even pay their employees bonuses for recommeding someone that eventually gets hired ~~ but a resume is still very much required as the person recommending you must submit a resume to the HR department to get the process started.
Second best approach (works for the few): be good at what you do. Employers often do the reverse of the above ~~ they ask others ‘who do you know that does …?’ Once you get approached, you may be asked to meet but your resume will need to accompany you.
Next second best approach (works for the many): don’t send out resumes willy-nilly. It just costs postage and they rarely get read. If you are lucky you will get a note in email that says please visit our website and add your resume. You need to get your resume in a resume database appropriate to your skillset and interests. There are many niche and specialized resume databases on jobboards, plus you need to add your resume to the corporate websites resume databases.
Your resume being in a database is very important. The overwhelming majority of recruiters do not read resumes. They use search statistics to identify candidates.
How a resume database gets used: a set of job criteria entered into a resume search system returns a statistical value as to the probability that you are a person that should be considered as matching their needs (kinda like dating services). If there is a high degree of match then only then does your resume ever get read ~~ assuming that you were probably a 90-95% or higher match.
Your resume and having a resume is very important, and will be for a long time to come. So you may find yourself in some interesting interview situations but it will all begin with a resume for a very long time to come.
We want your resume at USAJobZoo.com !
